This hiking tour in western Provence and eastern Languedoc is specifically designed for urbanites who love the excitement of the city, long to explore its green spaces and discover its history as expressed through its architecture, monuments, walkways and hinterlands.
As a rambling or light urban hiking tour, it comprise all-inclusive transport. You stay in three superior hotels that are the springboard for your urban hiking forays. The secrets of each 'Capital' will be given up to you as you walk their splendid parks and gardens and experience meridian street-life.

c) Model Programme: Languedoc Rambling
Day 1. Montpellier.
Arrival in the ‘Paris of the South’ and enjoy a stroll around the main Comedie square.
Night in Montpellier.
Day 2. From River Lez to Peyrou Gardens. 6.5 miles-10 kms. Suburban & urban walk.
Enjoy a hike along the river bank, marvel at the classical Greco-Roman architecture, stroll the Archeological Gardens and some magnificent 16th century European gardens before descending through the Arc de Triomphe and into the narrow lanes of the ‘Arab quarter’.
Second night in Montpellier.
Day 3. Roman Nimes: Suburban & urban walk. 2.5 miles-4 kms, plus historic centre.
30-minute train ride to Nimes after breakfast. You are collected from the train station and transferred to the City outskirts. From here you walk to your hotel via a medieval trail and onwards through nearly two thousand years of history. The trail takes you through some enchanting woods, to the Tour Magna, some magnificent 18th century gardens, and past Diana’s Temple, the historic centre, the two remaining Roman gates and, of course, the magnificent Roman arena itself.
Night in Nimes.
Day 4. Royalist Uzes & the Alzon Gorge. 5.5 miles-8.5 kms.
Morning transfer to Uzes followed by your chance to explore the source that gave rise to the construction of the Pont du Gard, 50 kms away. Impressive views of the town are to be enjoyed as you sweep round the Alzon Gorge and across the high garrigue.
Night in Uzes.
Day 5. End of your short hiking tour.
