i) All-inclusive transport tours. These are hiking tours that include a mix of transportation, be it private taxi, train or an Enlightened Traveller vehicle. They may or may not include airport transfers or baggage transfers, but both are available on request if they are not already included in the model programme in question.
ii) Rail-hike tours are eco-friendly tours that feature a selection of circular and linear trails linked together by short train rides.
iii) Drive-hike tours feature a variety of circular walks linked by a common theme. You require a car (a hire car or your own car) to get around from one day’s walk to the next, with circuits either commencing from your accommodation or a short drive away – in which case you park up, enjoy your hike and then make your way afterwards to your next overnight stay.
There are real benefits to be gained from these types of multi-centre or single-centre tours: you stay in complete control of the pace of your France hiking tour; you see a wider geographical area and have greater mobility at night; and you rediscover the joys of driving on the uncongested French roads. Finally, the movement of your luggage is your responsibility throughout the tour.
